What Music Therapy in Facilties?
Music Therapy is the clinical and evidenced-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program. Music therapy is a well-established allied health profession similar to occupational therapy and physical therapy. It consists of using music therapeutically to address physical, psychological, cognitive, behavioral and/or social functioning. Because music therapy is a powerful and non-threatening medium, unique outcomes are possible.
The George Center for Music Therapy, Inc. is proud to offer music therapy groups and sessions for several non-profits, schools, day programs, therapy clinics, assisted living facilities, hospitals, and support groups. There are several options when thinking about adding music therapy to your facility or program.
The board certified music therapists at GCMT have experience offering music and movement groups, social skills groups, therapeutic support of individualized goals, mental health support services, and adapted music appreciation classes and lessons. In addition, our therapists have experience with an array of populations and diagnoses.
In addition, many of our board certified music therapists are also licensed Kindermusik instructors and are able to provide Kindermusik classes that include children of all abilities.
