Denise Powell, PT joined Cobblestone Therapy Group in July 2008 to provide physical therapy assessments and treatment specializing in balance, vestibular rehabilitation, and sensory integration in children.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science, Physical Therapy option and received her Physical Therapy Certificate from California State University Northridge and the University of California at Los Angeles Hospital and Clinics. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and has practiced in a wide variety of settings with experience in both the adult and pediatric patient populations. She has worked with children in schools, early intervention programs, and outpatient and home environments. She has specialized training in the following areas:
* Sensory integration, certified in 2001
* Vestibular rehabilitation, certified in 2004 and 2007
* Visual-vestibular rehabilitation
* Balance
* Resistance and strength training
* Weight training
* Samonas music
* Orthotics
* Orthopedics
Denise works on improving sensory processing from the ground up by working on vestibular related issues first, such as fear of movement and heights, motion intolerance, incoordination, and poor sensory integration; as well as vestibular dysfunction associated with dizziness and vertigo. She also works with children who fall frequently, are behind in motor development, clumsy, weak, or have poor strength and posture. Denise is also working with improving balance and vestibular responses in young athletes.
